French Toast or “Pain Perdu” Recipe

French Toast or Pain Perdu

French Toast or Pain Perdu

My grand mother baked mePain Perdu (the real french name), when I was visiting her. Because the recipe is really easy, I was cooking with her too!

If you want a nice breakfast or propose a quick dessert to your guests, follow the guide.

Ingredients (2 persons):

  • 4 slice of stale bread
  • 3 dl of milk
  • 2 eggs
  • butter
  • sugar
  • cinnamon
  1. Mix the eggs together and then add the milk
  2. Soak the bread into this blend
  3. Heat up a pan
  4. Color the bread golden with butter
  5. Add sugar and cinnamon at your convenience
  6. Serve hot

According to french customs, the families were using old bread to not waste food. But nowadays it is common to use brioche’s slices which taste really good!

We used to make French Toast(that`s what we called it) a lot when we were kids.(A very long time ago!) And now my children love it too. And yes, I still use stale bread!
